A wise person once said, “I wouldn’t change you for the world, but I would change the world for you.” that is how I feel when I think about my daughter Laurel.

3 years ago, we went through what most of you have experienced. All I can say is that this beautiful little girl has taught her daddy so much, she has helped me evolve into a better person, and I am so proud of the person she is evolving into.

My name is Carlo DiCarlo, I am a teacher in the Peel region and I am honoured to serve in the capacity of Vice Chair. For the past several years, there has been a greater recognition of the Down Syndrome community in the province and we need to continue to advocate for all individuals with Down Syndrome. Get involved in your local organization, write a letter to a politician, talk with all those that you have synergy with about the joys and struggles of our community. The more we talk about the realities of Down Syndrome, the greater impact we will be able to have in our work at the provincial level.

Our mission is a communal one, I am truly blessed to walk this road with all of you. For any of you reading this, I would urge you to rise up and stand with your provincial organization as we seek to demonstrate the undeniable truth that our Down Syndrome community needs help.
